Alternative medicine and treatments have been growing in popularity for a number of years. They provide an alternative to people who have tried conventional medicine but did not get the results they were looking for or people who want to complement their other efforts to remain healthy.

- Non invasive procedures: Most natural remedies are non invasive and do not require extensive healing period as with conventional medicine. Due to this they can be used by people regardless of their age or physical fitness level.
- Reduced side effects: As most of the substances used are natural the side effects are generally milder than can be found in conventional or western medicine. This allows these treatments to be done in parallel to other western treatments.
- Holistic approach: The body as a whole is treated and not just particular symptoms. This means that the root cause of the illness is targeted. The benefit of this approach is that problems once treated seldom return.

There are a number of general health products that are available for people who are looking for alternative forms of healing. These include but are not limited to:

Unlike conventional medicine that directly attacks infections or illnesses, most natural remedies work with the body's immune system to strengthen it and help it fight infections. If you are diagnosed with a disease it is important to discuss your options with your doctor.
Before any therapy or treatment can be started it is important to understand what the treatment entails.
Another good thing to consider is that, before 'buying into' a specific alternative treatment, do some research online and see what kind of clinical trials have been done and how reputable the sources for the alternative treatment are.
