Tourism is one of the most important and dynamic industries in Australia. Tours often defined as travels made by people for recreational, business leisure purposes. People who engage in tours are called tourists. It can be done with one individual or a group of people by being shown to a particular place usually by a tour guide. Tours can be arranged at travel agencies or through the internet before going to the country or location of choice.
Tours in Australia include trips by groups or an individual to various tourist destinations in Australia rural and urban, natural and manmade. Usually, tour guides provide information about the destination to tourists and give them opportunities to take photographs of the place. Other industries and services that are associated with tourism include transportation services, accommodations services, tourist attractions, and entertainment services.
The Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism and the Department for Foreign Affairs and Trade work hand in hand with other tourism association and organization from the different states and territories in Australia in providing the best possible services and highest standards of tourism the country has to offer to foreign and local visitors.
Tour tips in Australia
- Book for an accommodation that will fit your budget and your taste instead of spending too much on services you do not need. There are affordable and cost-effective accommodations in and around Australia.
- It is always important for tourists to carry identification, especially your passport, and visa when travelling. Visitors from all countries, except New Zealand, are required to apply for a visa before travelling to Australia.
- Do not be afraid to ask for directions from hotel staff, information officers, or police officers as they are the most qualified to provide you with the best information to make your stay as comfortable and hassle-free as possible.
- Always abide by the laws of the states and territories in Australia.
Hotel reservation tips
- Hotels located in popular areas tend to be full on peak seasons. Showing up with a reservation is risky as the hotel may charge you more for not booking in advance. When making hotel reservations during peak seasons, do so a few months in advance.
- Inquire about special rates when making reservations in advance. However, you do not always have to accept the first special rate the hotel may offer.
- Hotel reservations will be taken more seriously when you guarantee your arrival with a credit card number. Deposits, on the other hand, can be very difficult to prove when misplaced. Always keep print out of your online booking or a record of the reservation made over the phone.
- Travel insurance will protect you if your trip was cancelled due to emergencies and the like. But it is advisable to read the policies of the travel insurance carefully for any exclusion.
- When you receive confirmation of your reservation, immediately review it for any errors. This would ensure that you only get what you paid for and to avoid any inconveniences.
- Give someone your itinerary such as when you are leaving for your trip, your expected arrival at your destination, hotel you are staying, and when you're planning to return home. Always double check reservations before leaving your home.
