Australia boasts a great number of tourist attractions such as Ayer's Rock and the different capital cities, which are tourist attractions unto themselves because of their spacious parks and famous landmarks. Other examples of tourist attractions include the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House.

There are a numerous hotels that offer accommodation, as well as budget-friendly lodgings, that tourists can take advantage of during their stay in the country. There are numerous car, boat and plane services that are available for hire in Australia.
There are many organizations in Australia, both government and non-government that are responsible for maintaining the high standards of tourism and these include: National Tourism Alliance, Tourism Minister's Advisory Council, and the National Tourism and Aviation Advisory Committee, and many more.

  • Do not be afraid to ask for directions from hotel staff, information officers, or police officers as they are the most qualified to provide you with the best information to make your stay as comfortable and hassle-free as possible.
  • Abide by the laws of the country regarding road travel for ease and convenience.
  • It is illegal to hitch-hike in Australia. When in need of assistance, look for the nearest hotel or police station to provide the necessary service you need.

Hotel reservation tips for tourists

  • Hotels located in popular areas tend to be full on peak seasons. Showing up with a reservation is risky as the hotel may charge you more for not booking in advance. When making hotel reservations during peak seasons, do so a few months in advance.
  • Inquire about special rates when making reservations in advance. However, you do not always have to accept the first special rate the hotel may offer.
  • Hotel reservations will be taken more seriously when you guarantee your arrival with a credit card number. Deposits, on the other hand, can be very difficult to prove when misplaced. Always keep print out of your online booking or a record of the reservation made over the phone.
  • Travel insurance will protect you if your trip was cancelled due to emergencies and the like. But it is advisable to read the policies of the travel insurance carefully for any exclusion.
  • When you receive confirmation of your reservation, immediately review it for any errors. This would ensure that you only get what you paid for and to avoid any inconveniences.
  • Give someone your itinerary such as when you are leaving for your trip, your expected arrival at your destination, hotel you are staying, and when you're planning to return home. Always double check reservations before leaving your home.
